Memorandum to Players


 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, AND CUT INFORMATION
This championship is a two-day 36-hole stroke play competition.


COVID-19 GUIDELINES
The Otesaga Resort's policy is that unvaccinated guests must wear a mask in all public areas inside the hotel's facilities, including the Leatherstocking clubhouse. We ask any players who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms to test negative before competing in this event.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Listed below is the tentative schedule of events for this year’s championship. Players will be notified of any changes via email.

Saturday, May 21

  • 1:20-4:00pm............ Practice rounds

Sunday, May 22

  • 10:30am.................. Driving range opens
  • 10:30-12:45pm........ Registration
  • 11:00-1:00pm.......... Player Lunch
  • 1:00pm..................... Round 1 (Shotgun Start)

Monday, May 23

  • 7:45am.................... Driving range opens
  • 9:30am.................... Round 2 (Shotgun Start)
  • 2:00-3:00pm........... Player Lunch
  • 3:00pm....................Award ceremony

REGISTRATION
Each team is required to have at least one player register at the NYSGA tent by the entrance to Leatherstocking. All required materials will be staged on your golf cart.

PRACTICE ROUNDS
Are available on Saturday, May 21 from 1:20-4:00pm FOR REGISTERED PLAYERS ONLY. Additional availability is offered the week prior during non-peak hours. The fee is $60 and includes a cart. Tee times are required, call the Leatherstocking pro shop at (607) 544-2547.

DRIVING RANGE AND PRACTICE GREEN
The use of the driving range is free for players (see schedule above). The driving range is located just north of the of the club on Route 80 (
click here to view map). There is a small putting green located 200 yards from the clubhouse to the right of #5 green, which requires players to walk.

COURSE YARDAGE

The Men's Amateur division will play from the green tees (6,401 yards / 71.0 Course Rating / 133 Slope) and the Men's Senior Amateur division will play from the white tees (6,040 yards / 69.4 Course Rating / 130 Slope). This information reflects the standard yardage, which may be adjusted slightly for each round.

PLAYER LUNCHES

A complimentary lunch will be provided at the Leatherstocking Clubhouse's Grill & Patio (weather permitting) before the first round shotgun and after the second round shotgun. Guest tickets are not available (the pro shop and hotel restaurants will be open and serving food to the public).

FOOD SERVICE

The Leatherstocking Grill & Bar will be open from 7:00am - 6:00pm daily.

EXEMPTIONS

The winners of the 2022 NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be exempt from qualifying for the 2022 NYS Men's Amateur Championship (Onondaga Golf & Country Club) and the 2022 NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship (Colgate's Seven Oaks Golf Club).

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS
Water bottles and fruit/snacks will be provided on the golf course for players.

GOLF CARTS
Are required and included in the entry fee.
 

SPECTATORS AND CARTS
Spectators are encouraged to attend this Championship and follow guidelines consistent with other golf competitions. Spectators are expected to maintain a reasonable distance (at least 20 yards) from players and to always walk with or ahead of the group they are following. Spectators must not give players advice, as doing so could result in the player being penalized. Spectators who are in breach of these recommendations may be subject to removal from the golf course.

The NYSGA will accommodate spectators with an ADA disability by allowing them to ride in their own golf cart. To request this accommodation, a spectator must complete and return the
NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form at least 24 hours in advance.


LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this Championship.

 

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this Championship is final when the Championship trophy has been presented.
  • NYSGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2019 NYSGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. Model Local Rules G-1 and G-3 are in effect. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).

 

WITHDRAWALS

To withdraw, promptly notify the NYSGA (call 315-471-6979, or e-mail champs@nysga.org). Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future NYSGA competitions.

 

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. To view the NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy, click here.

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during this Championship, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the NYSGA.


PLAYER CONDUCT
Players and/or their guests must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner at all times. Any excessive display of anger, vulgar language, club throwing, alcohol abuse, illegal drug use, lack of golfing etiquette or disrespect to a fellow player or any other individual may be grounds or disqualification from any tournament. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA.
